- Age and Birthday requirements
- All students entering Pre-K 3 must be 3 years old by September 30th of the current school year.
- All students entering Pre-K 4 must be 4 years old by September 30th of the current school year.
- All students entering Kindergarten must be 5 years old by September 30th of the current school year.
- All students entering 1st grade must have successfully completed Kindergarten
- All students entering 2nd grade must have successfully completed 1st grade.
Students With Medical Information
If your child has asthma, allergies, diabetes, seizures, or other medical conditions that may require medication or medical treatment during school hours, please be sure to have the Medication Authorization forms completed by the parent/guardian and the student’s medical provider, as well as an Asthma Action Plan or Anaphylaxis Action Plan as needed. If applicable, please provide this completed form to the school.

Congratulations to all families matched to Cedar Tree Academy using My School DC! To accept your space, families must complete online registration and provide all required documentation by May 1, 2024. All required documentation can be submitted in-person or electronically by the parent or legal guardian. Returning Student Information
Thank You for choosing Cedar Tree Academy for another school year. To secure your space for the upcoming school year, please complete online registration and submit all required documentation by May 1, 2024. Returning students are NOT required to resubmit child’s birth certificate, My School DC Enrollment Form or Parent/Guardian ID (unless it is being used as Proof of DC Residency).

Cedar Tree Academy is a free, open-enrollment, public school for all District of Columbia residents.
What is the age requirement for Cedar Tree Academy students?
What happens if there are not enough available spaces to admit all students that apply to Cedar Tree?
Your child will be entered in a lottery that will determine the order in which seats are offered. Your child will receive preference in the lottery if they have a sibling who is currently enrolled at Cedar Tree. Students who apply for a seat after the lottery takes place will be added to the wait list on a first-come-first-served basis. To increase your child’s probability of attending Cedar Tree, we recommend ranking Cedar Tree as your number 1 choice.
What documentation is required once my child is offered a seat at Cedar Tree Academy?
If my child is returning to Cedar Tree, what documents must I provide during the re-enrollment process?
To re-enroll your child at Cedar Tree, you will need to provide proof of DC residency, a signed residency verification form (which will be completed at Cedar Tree), and oral and physical health certificates for your child.
